The wet system, not the boiler

“Central heating repair” and “boiler repair” get lumped together, but they’re different jobs — and separating them helps you get the right engineer and avoid paying for the wrong diagnosis. Your boiler is the appliance that generates heat; the central heating system is everything the heat travels through — the pump, pipes, radiators, valves, and the water (and inhibitor) circulating inside. Many “heating” faults are on that wet side: a cold radiator, sludge blocking circulation, a failed pump or a pressure problem, none of which is a boiler fault.
